“Our eight-year-old’s son’s anxiety had begun to take a toll on the entire family. After meeting him, Cheryl adapted her therapy to fit his needs and personality. He quickly began enjoying his sessions, and she taught him, and us, to recognize his anxiety and tools to work with.

A MESSAGE FROM CHERYL

Parenting a child with emotional and behavioral needs can be overwhelming at times. Along with the demands of everyday life, these factors can often fuel disconnect, the loss of joy in your child, or even unwanted anger towards your loved ones. There is hope.

I work with children as young as 2 years old up to 12 years and their families. As a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) my approach is rooted in the child’s natural language of play. Play is engaging and a great vehicle for multi-sensory learning. My clinical approach is informed by knowledge of developmental brain research, attachment, and trauma.

I am also trained in the basic principles and techniques of Theraplay®. Theraplay principles can be particularly effective with attachment disruptions such as in the cases of foster care, adoption, serious illness, or grief & loss.

I respect the courage it takes to engage in counseling. I strive to provide treatment that honors your values and traditions and help you connect with your child on a deeper level. It would be a privilege to walk with you and your family on a unique journey to renewed joy and peace in your home.
