Gloria Cockerill | LCSW, RPT-S

Child Therapist & Play Therapist

Being a parent is the hardest job anyone can work at; it is a constant process with no sick days, breaks or training manuals. Every day each and every parent is doing the very best they can for their family. When a child is struggling a parent’s job becomes even more challenging and complicated as they strive to relieve their child’s pain.

I’ve spent my career working with children from birth through their teen years and their families. Whether impacted by trauma and attachment issues, behavioral concerns or managing difficult emotions, my goal is to help you and your family get back on track sharing laughter, joy, and connection.

Your relationship with your child is central to their healing process. Informed by child development and current research, we will utilize the most fundamental language of children, Play, working as a team to understand what is happening for your child, while helping you manage the day to day struggles of parenting them through this difficult time.

Together we will start a process and I will guide you as you integrate change into your child and family’s experience; strengthening and enhancing your relationships along the way.

Gloria Cockerill’s Impact on Children & Parents

Our son was internationally adopted at 5 years old and has a significant trauma background. Gloria has been an integral part of his healing process, working closely with our family to strengthen his attachment and teach him how to give and receive genuine love.

Through her therapeutic play-based work, Gloria has brought a sense of hope and light into our family

S.R. - Parent

Our daughter was really struggling.  Gloria’s patient, calm presence has helped all of us to manage the anxiety that caused us to seek help. She is is a talented clinician and is really great at what she does.

“Our daughter came to our family at age 12 through international adoption. Gloria Cockerill taught us how to make our new daughter feel safe at home and how to create connections that made her feel loved, cared for by her new parents.

Gloria is a very empathetic therapist and had great ideas to navigate safe attachment with our daughter. I would recommend her to anyone looking for support and guidance on how to safely attach to children.”
